Our Start

Loraine Griffin and her youngest daughter Melanie Griffin have both practiced yoga on different levels for several years and wanted to expand their interest in yoga, fitness and living a healthy lifestyle. With a vacant building that has a long history of food service they looked around for something to build upon, something to fit with all the fine businesses on Washington Square in Holland, MI.

The idea started to evolve and Bodhi Tree Yoga & Wellness Studio was born. They hope to be a yoga studio and more. They will bring ingredients for a healthy lifestyle from yoga, meditation, other fitness classes, nutrition, massage, Reiki, spa services and most important life-long learning through classes and workshops.

Loraine and Melanie are passionate in conveying the message that yoga can work for everyone. Together they hope to make new friends by adding a dynamic new business to Washington square that offers an intimate yoga space and a whole lot more.

Loraine Griffin

Loraine has lived in Holland for over 35 years. During all those years she has raised 3 children, that grew into an extended family with in-laws, 4 grandchildren, 3 grand dogs, 6 grand cats and two cats of her own. Along the way she became a small business owner selling everything from pizza (Little Caesars) to ice cream and candy (Baskin Robbins and Little Cleo's Sweet Shoppe) to children's clothes (Children's Orchard) to real estate (Keller Williams...still selling). She has practiced yoga for years and been interested in all aspects of living a healthy life style from mediation, nutrition, massage, facials and lifelong learning.

Loraine will be helping out with the day to day operations of Bodhi Tree (watering plants, cleaning... things like that) and taking as many classes as she can!

Melanie Griffin

Melanie has lived in Holland since she was 4 years old.  She graduated from West Ottawa High School and attended business-related classes at Adrian College.  Seeing that traditional schooling wasn't her path, she attended Excel Academies of Cosmetology to receive her Manicurist License in 1992 and received her Esthetician License from Nuvo School of College of Cosmetology in 2010.  As life moves on, health and wellness has become more important to her and that's how Bodhi Tree was born.

She looks forward to enjoying as many classes as she can and helping Bodhi Tree grow and flourish!  She will be in charge of the day to day operations and you'll be able to find her there most days.  She has 3 fur babies, 2 dogs, Buddy and Trinket and one sassy cat named Sampson that keep her on her toes!
